Amalie Stalheim with Ole Haagenrud & Eva Stalheim
Amalie Stalheim, cello, has already made a name for herself in Sweden, and now makes her first solo appearance at the Bergen International Festival.
In 2015 Amalie Stalheim won the Ljunggren Competition, Sweden's most prestigious competition for young classical performers, alongside Ole Christian Haagenrud. 'Intimate and extremely delicate chamber music-making with a superb sense of colour and timing', according to the jury.
Currently a cello student at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm, she was named Young Swedish Soloist of 2016. She has already performed as a soloist with the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra and Gävle Symphony Orchestra. In 2016 she was also nominated for Statoil's Talent Stipend for classical music.
She is joined by Ole Christian Haagenrud on the piano and her sister Eva Stalheim on the violin. Ole Christian Haagenrud, a popular chamber musician and accompanist, is a frequent participant at festivals in Norway and abroad. Eva Stalheim is currently second concert master at the Norwegian Opera & Ballet in Oslo, and is a member of the award-winning chamber orchestra Ensemble Allegria.
