40 YEARS WITH THE NORWEGIAN CHAMBER ORCHESTRA
Bach by Bugge
A meld of classical and jazz.
The Norwegian Chamber Orchestra round off their evening of celebrations with a two-part concert. It starts with a stage version of Schoenberg's Verklärte Nacht (Transfigured Night), performed from memory and with lighting, which opens up for a completely new experience of the romantic narrative music. The magic is in the mood created by the stage effects and the musical dramaturgy.
With Bugge Wesseltoft at the piano the orchestra completes the evening with a fusion of classical and jazz. Within the span lies their interpretation of the Goldberg Variations – Bach swings well, even without bass and drums, and the orchestra fools around in a musical borderland.
Through four decades the Norwegian Chamber Orchestra has nurtured the classical string sound to the core, all the time experimenting with forms of expression and ideals of tone as they have cropped up. On this occasion in Logen they take it yet a step further. Happy Anniversary!
