What is the key to succeeding with safe, attractive and great cities for a new urban generation in Nordic cultures and climates – do we copy from abroad or create new tools? Join us at Folketeatret, when #Placemaking in the Nordics will be launched in Norway with inspirational presentations by two New Yorkers; Senior Vice President Meg Walker of Project for Public Spaces and head of Urbanism at LINK arkitektur, Sissel Engblom. For the first time Norwegian partners are invited to join developing #Placemaking in the Nordics, a new approach initiated in Sweden and Finland by Future Place Leadership, Tryggare Sverige, LINK arkitektur and Multiconsult.
Sissel Engblom:
As an experienced urbanist, Engblom has been working progressively with sustainable urban development in Norway and Sweden the past decades. She is reknown for strategic projects in Malmö, Stockholm, Gothenburg and Oslo.
Meg Walker:
The past 20 years, Walker has engaged communities around the US in creating vibrant parks, plazas, waterfronts and revitalized downtowns. She is best known for her work in Times Square, Bryant Park and downtown Detroit. As Adjunct Professor of City Planning at Pratt Institute, she teaches in the Urban Placemaking and Management MA.
Urban LINK:
The urbanism team of LINK arkitektur and Multiconsult has a multi-disciplinary, conceptual approach to Nordic urbanism. We have created waterfront developments, downtown revitalization and transformation projects in cities like Oslo, Stockholm, Gothenburg, Porsgrunn, Trondheim and Bodö.
Project for Public Spaces (PPS):

They are the central hub of the global placemaking movement, connecting people to ideas, resources, expertise, and partners who see place as the key to addressing our greatest challenges.
