Modular synthesizers, drum machines, computers and software have played a definitive role in electronic music. Music technology has been pivotal in the landscape since the emergence of electronic music, both influencing and reacting to developments in the scene since it sprang into existence with the advent of the first theremin. duB X hosts an evening of discussion and music on the theme of music technology and electronic music. DJ and live sets from emerging and established Norwegian talents, Finnebassen, Ra-shidi, Fakethias and Karl Fraunhofer accompany a headlining set from our guest of honour, Hannes Bieger on the night.

The evening will be preceded with a day time masterclass program between 18:00 and 21:00 dedicated to music technology in electronic music where we’ll have a live interview and Q&A session with Hannes Bieger and a panel discussion with emerging and established Norwegian artists on how music technology has affected their work. Arturia and Roland provide a stand each during this part of the event where the audience will be able to try out the latest gear.

Hannes Bieger is the man behind some of the most impressive electronic music releases of this century. A sound engineer, producer, mastering engineer, his name has adorned countless releases from the likes of Dixon, Ben Klock, Ellen Allien, M.A.N.D.Y and DJ Tennis. He’s the one the super producers turn to refine their tracks and when he’s not mastering engineering or co-producing the music of others, he’s making music or writing about music and technology for the likes of Sound on Sound. Based out of Calyx mastering studios in Berlin he’s a monolith in the contemporary electronic music both behind the scenes and in full view.
